International Women’s Day

iwd-logomain2Did you know …yesterday… was International Women’s Day…?  In 1908 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.  The following year, America observed its first National Women’s Day, and in 1911 it became International Women’s Day, observed across much of Europe.

Since then, the idea has grown and morphed in fits and starts to become, maybe not a date on your desk calendar, but still something that social media is shouting from the mountain tops in 2016.  To obserserve the day is to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women, to help ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding!
